Controller

We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a growing company on a Contract basis. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial reporting, and provide leadership for core finance activities in a fast-paced environment. The position offers an opportunity to support a business at an important stage of growth while partnering with internal teams to keep financial processes running smoothly.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the complete accounting cycle, ensuring financial records are accurate, timely, and compliant with company standards.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and lead the close process, including account reconciliations and reporting deliverables.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including bill payments and cash flow tracking through established banking and payment platforms.
• Coordinate biweekly payroll processing in partnership with HR for a workforce of approximately 63 employees, including remote staff.
• Supervise and guide entry-level accounting support staff, providing direction, review, and hands-on assistance where needed.
• Maintain and improve accounting records within QuickBooks Online to support reliable financial operations and reporting.
• Assist with purchasing oversight, data management activities, and selected month-end tasks to ensure continuity across the accounting function.
• Support accounting coverage during a period of organizational change, helping sustain stable operations and successful execution of finance priorities.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online in an accounting environment.
• Strong background in full-cycle accounting, including general ledger management and account reconciliations.
• Proven ability to prepare financial statements and complete month-end close activities accurately and on schedule.
• Practical experience managing both accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Payroll processing experience, ideally in coordination with HR for multi-employee organizations.
• Prior experience leading or mentoring entry-level accounting staff.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities in a contract role.

Compensation

$47.50-$55.00 Hourly
