Medical Billing Specialist

We are partnering with a well-established healthcare organization seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist for a contract opportunity. This role is responsible for managing claims processing, payment posting, insurance follow-up, and denial resolution to ensure timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Submit and process insurance claims accurately and timely.
• Review patient accounts to ensure billing information is complete and accurate.
• Follow up with commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, and Medicaid regarding unpaid or denied claims.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies and claim denials.
• Post payments, adjustments, and remittances into the billing system.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and prioritize outstanding claims.
• Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and healthcare billing guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve documentation or coding issues.
• Support revenue cycle initiatives and special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of medical billing experience required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding terminology.
• Experience with claim submissions, appeals, and denial management.
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing.
• Proficiency with medical billing software (ex. Epic) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
