Legal Secretary
We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to support a busy legal team in Southfield, Michigan. This position is well suited for someone who can manage litigation-related administrative work with accuracy, strong organization, and a sense of urgency. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in legal support, ideally with experience in multi-jurisdiction matters or insurance defense environments.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare, review, and submit legal documents through electronic filing systems in accordance with court rules and deadlines.
• Coordinate attorney calendars, schedule hearings, meetings, and case-related appointments, and monitor critical dates to keep matters on track.
• Draft, format, revise, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, and other legal materials from dictation, notes, or attorney instruction.
• Maintain organized case files and ensure records, filings, and supporting documentation are accurate and readily accessible.
• Communicate with courts, clients, opposing counsel, and vendors in a clear and organized manner regarding case logistics and documentation.
• Track filing requirements across jurisdictions and help ensure compliance with varying procedural expectations in litigation matters.
• Provide day-to-day administrative support to attorneys handling defense-related or subrogation matters, as needed.
• Assist with document management and workflow coordination to support efficient handling of active legal cases
Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of experience in a Legal Secretary or closely related legal support role.
• Demonstrated ability to complete electronic court filings accurately and on time.
• Strong calendar management skills, including tracking deadlines and coordinating legal schedules.
• Experience producing legal documents from dictation with a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
• Background in multi-state legal work or insurance defense is highly valued.
• Excellent written communication, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced legal setting
