Assc Patient Care Coord/22/HCD120

Eden Prairie, MN 55344, US Temporary
Compensation: $17 to $18 Hourly

We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to support front-end revenue cycle activities for hospital and clinic services in Minnesota. This long-term contract position focuses on securing financial clearance before care is delivered by confirming coverage, identifying authorization needs, and helping patients understand expected costs. The role works closely with distributed patient access teams in a fast-paced remote setting and requires strong communication, sound judgment, and accuracy when handling sensitive health and insurance information.

Responsibilities:
• Complete pre-registration and financial clearance activities by gathering patient details, reviewing account information, and entering accurate documentation in Epic or a comparable electronic health record system.
• Validate active insurance coverage using electronic tools and manual follow-up when needed, ensuring benefit details are recorded clearly and completely.
• Review payer rules for scheduled services to determine covered benefits, authorization requirements, policy limits, effective dates, and expected patient out-of-pocket amounts.
• Prepare and communicate cost estimates so patients can make informed decisions and better understand their financial obligations before treatment.
• Explain relevant patient-facing policies and required forms, including consent-related information and other pre-service instructions tied to upcoming visits.
• Identify accounts with insufficient coverage or financial barriers and connect patients or families with appropriate financial counseling or assistance resources.
• Partner with clinical and administrative teams to resolve pre-service issues, clarify documentation needs, and support timely access to care.
• Contribute to team success in a high-volume environment by maintaining productivity standards, participating in daily remote huddles, and assisting with additional revenue cycle tasks as assigned.
• Offer guidance to newer team members when needed on payer interpretation, workflow questions, and issues that affect financial clearance outcomes.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 6 months of experience in healthcare insurance eligibility review, benefit verification, or pre-registration functions is required.
• Practical knowledge of front-end healthcare revenue cycle processes, including financial clearance and patient liability review.
• Ability to interpret commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid benefit information accurately.
• Experience working with clinical staff and using clinical documentation to support account review and service preparation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak clearly with patients, families, and internal teams.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, common procedures, and billing-related workflows in a healthcare setting.
• Experience with Epic is preferred; exposure to retail pharmacy claims, prior authorization activity, or similar payer-related processes is a plus.
