Litigation Attorney

A San Francisco-based law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to provide additional support on an active trade secrets matter as the case moves toward trial. The attorney will join the litigation team during a busy stage of the matter and take on substantive assignments across motion practice, legal research and writing, mediation preparation, and trial preparation, with continued support through trial.

This fully remote, contract opportunity requires an experienced California-licensed litigator who can quickly get up to speed on an existing case, produce strong written work, and independently move assignments forward with limited ramp-up. The firm is looking for someone who can meaningfully add capacity to the team and take ownership of work as deadlines and trial preparation intensify.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on litigation and trial preparation support on an active civil matter
• Conduct legal research and analysis and draft related written work product
• Draft, review, and revise motions, briefs, mediation summaries, and other litigation materials
• Support dispositive motion practice, including summary judgment briefing and oppositions
• Review and analyze pleadings, discovery, evidence, and other case materials to support case and trial preparation
• Assist with preparation of arguments, exhibits, and other materials for upcoming proceedings and trial
• Take ownership of assigned projects and workstreams in coordination with the firm’s litigation team
• Manage competing assignments and deadlines as the matter progresses toward trial

Qualifications:

• Active and in good standing with the State Bar of California
• 5+ years of post-bar civil litigation experience required; familiarity with trade secrets matters is preferred
• Meaningful hands-on trial preparation and support experience
• Strong motion practice, including experience researching, drafting, and responding to substantive motions; dispositive motion experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience producing high-quality legal research and written work product, including briefs and other substantive litigation filings
• Experience independently handling litigation assignments and deadlines with limited oversight
• Ability to quickly assess an existing case record and contribute effectively at an advanced stage of litigation
• Federal trial experience is a plus

Additional Details

• This is a fully remote, 40-hour-per-week contract opportunity. Attorneys who can consistently commit 20–30 hours per week may also be considered.
• The immediate need is driven by an upcoming trial, with potential for the engagement to continue thereafter based on ongoing workload and mutual fit.
