About the Role

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Huntsville, Alabama. This fully onsite position supports the development of software for tactical strike guided munition programs and is well suited for entry to mid-level candidates with 2–4 years of experience looking to grow their careers in a mission-driven defense environment.

This opportunity focuses on building innovative, maintainable software frameworks and supporting the deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of software products ranging from analysis tools and simulations to mission planning software and other mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities Assist in the design and implementation of software architecture and design patterns for missile system applications Develop software supporting major system functions such as guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, and mission planning Build software with a focus on modularity, reusability, portability, and maintainability Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure software quality and compliance Support technical decisions related to tools, frameworks, and development approaches Collaborate directly and frequently with team members across multiple small development teams Support flight test operations and post-test analysis Develop software that adheres to military and aviation standards for safety, cybersecurity, and RMF


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or an equivalent technical degree Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher 2+ years of relevant technical experience Demonstrable experience with C/C++ Experience with Python and Java Understanding of software architecture patterns and design principles Strong problem-solving skills and systems-level thinking Experience with software configuration management, software quality engineering concepts, and sound software development standards and practices Emotional and detail oriented maturity U.S. must be eligible to work in the U.S. required Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one Preferred Qualifications Experience with embedded missile systems, aerospace, or weapons systems development Familiarity with real-time embedded systems Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices Knowledge of guidance and control algorithms, navigation systems, mission planning systems (NOMS, JMPS), and/or sensors Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm development and simulation Understanding of hardware-software integration and software systems engineering principles Ability to work across multiple products under development by multiple small teams

Compensation

$38.00-$45.00 Hourly
