Software Test Engineer

About the Role Our client is seeking an entry to mid-level Software Test Engineer to join its team in Huntsville, Alabama. This is a fully onsite opportunity supporting tactical strike guided munition programs in a mission-driven defense environment. This role is ideal for candidates with 2–4 years of experience who are looking to grow their careers in software quality, automation, and systems testing. The selected candidate will help test software products ranging from analysis tools and simulations to mission planning software and other mission-critical systems. The position focuses on automated testing, test infrastructure development, integration testing, manual testing, formal software qualification testing, fielding, support, and maintenance. Key Responsibilities Support test planning, test strategy, test design, and test execution for software products and systems Participate as an integral team member in software quality and testing efforts across complex, multi-disciplinary projects Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test infrastructure Perform integration testing, informal manual testing, and formal software qualification testing Review, edit, and generate engineering and test documentation in accordance with applicable standards Collaborate closely with software developers and cross-functional engineering teams Provide recommendations on software and product quality Support fielding, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of software products Learn from and work alongside senior test engineers in a collaborative environment

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or an equivalent technical field Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher 2+ years of relevant software test or software engineering experience Proven experience performing software testing on complex, multi-disciplinary projects Experience with software test automation Hands-on development experience in at least one of the following: C#/.NET, C, C++, Java, Python, or Ruby Strong communication skills, including the ability to present to senior leadership and government customers Emotional and detail oriented maturity U.S. must be eligible to work in the U.S. required Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance Must be located in North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area Preferred Qualifications Experience writing UI tests using automated UI testing technologies Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE 12207, CMMI, DO-178C, DO-278, MIL-STD-882E, and RMF Ability to work across multiple products under development by multiple small teams Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices Experience testing guidance and control algorithms, navigation systems, mission planning systems, or sensors Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML Understanding of hardware-software integration and software systems engineering principles

Compensation

$40.00-$48.00 Hourly
