Fund Accounting Manager | Venture Capital Firm | San Francisco; Hybrid - 1-2 Days Onsite | Base + Bonus + Carry
Join a growing Bay Area venture capital firm investing in early-stage frontier and climate technologies, with approximately $800M in AUM and the backing of a globally recognized organization. This is an opportunity to combine the resources and stability of an institutional platform with the broad exposure and ownership of a lean investment team.
Working closely with the CFO and Controller, you'll gain hands-on exposure across the full fund lifecycle, including capital activity, financial reporting, waterfalls, carry, valuations, tax, and investor reporting. Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end capital calls and distributions
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly closes
- Maintain portfolio investment activity, valuations, and statements of investments
- Build and review American and European waterfall models
- Calculate carried interest, hurdle rates, and capital statements
- Maintain fund accounting systems and ensure data accuracy
- Coordinate with external tax providers and review fund tax returns
- Prepare LP and parent company reporting
- Respond to investor inquiries related to capital activity, statements, and K-1s
- Support portfolio investment and fund-of-fund activity

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of fund accounting experience
- Strong venture capital, private equity, or alternative investment experience
- In-house fund accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of waterfalls, carry calculations, and capital accounting
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Experience with Carta, Investran, eFront, or similar fund accounting systems preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA highly desirable
- Detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable owning complex workflows independently
