Controller | Private Equity Firm | Burlingame
Join a growing private equity firm that partners with founder-owned businesses across technology and services. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a highly visible leadership role with broad exposure across fund accounting, management company accounting, financial reporting, valuations, investor relations, and firm operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who wants to be more than a traditional fund accounting leader. You'll work closely with senior leadership and investors, help develop the accounting team, and play an important role in the firm's continued growth and future fund initiatives. The position offers strong compensation + bonus potential and meaningful long-term career upside.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with the CFO across fund and management company finance
- Oversee financial reporting and accounting operations
- Mentor and ultimately manage members of the accounting team
- Partner with legal, investor relations, and senior leadership
- Support valuations and other front-office initiatives
- Participate in operational due diligence
- Respond to investor inquiries and interact directly with LPs
- Research complex accounting and operational matters and drive solutions
- Support firm growth and future fund launches

Qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience preferred
- Strong experience across fund + management company accounting
- Private equity experience strongly preferred; VC or credit experience considered
- Tax experience is a strong plus
- Prior leadership or mentorship experience
- Strong technical accounting, research, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the executive presence to work with senior leadership and investors
- Hands-on, strategic, and comfortable operating within a lean, entrepreneurial environment
