Embedded Software Engineer

Key Responsibilities Support the design and development of embedded airborne system software within assigned technical areas Contribute to software architecture, code implementation, peer reviews, and unit testing Assist with integration of software modules at the subsystem and cross-subsystem level Develop software tools and test harnesses to support testing, integration, and maintenance activities Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and performance improvement of embedded software systems Apply software engineering principles and best practices throughout the software development life cycle Support requirements analysis, hardware compatibility analysis, and software product development Work with team members to improve development workflows, tools, and engineering practices Collaborate frequently with internal stakeholders and engineering teams to support successful project delivery

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher 2–5 years of relevant embedded software engineering experience Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development Experience working with a real-time operating system (RTOS) such as VxWorks, Integrity, or FreeRTOS Familiarity with embedded processors and microcontrollers such as ARM Cortex, RISC-V, or similar architectures Experience using embedded debugging tools such as JTAG and oscilloscopes Exposure to modern software development practices including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Emotional and detail oriented maturity U.S. must be eligible to work in the U.S. required Ability to obtain a security clearance; candidates may begin prior to clearance completion Must be located in North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area Preferred Qualifications Experience with defense, aerospace, or safety-critical embedded systems Experience with high-speed guided weapons systems, flight control systems, or similar embedded solutions Familiarity with large-scale embedded, high-performance systems requiring deterministic behavior Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

Compensation

$40.00-$48.00 Hourly
