Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Data Analyst II/Data Scientist II to develop and maintain data-driven tools that support Diplomatic Security risk and threat assessments. The role manages data throughout its lifecycle, integrates hardware and software solutions, and produces analytical products that enhance technical security operations at diplomatic facilities. The analyst drives process improvements, ensures system compliance, provides senior-level briefings, and supports interagency coordination to protect national security information, facilities, and personnel.
Requirements:Responsibilities:
- Develops, maintains, and updates tools that support risk and threat assessment activities within the Collections and Data Analytics Program, including the Technical Security Assessment (TSA) and Technical Anomaly Reporting System (TARS).
- Supports the TSA project by developing a robust application for Diplomatic Security technical personnel to perform vulnerability assessments required by 12 FAH-6.
- Contributes to the TARS project by creating an online information-gathering tool for technical anomaly reporting.
- Integrates TSA and TARS with additional functionalities and assists with project management and cross-department coordination involving hardware and software solutions.
- Collects data from multiple sources, analyzes relationships, and develops IT-based tools that integrate data into products supporting branch analytical processes.
- Analyzes intrusion alarm and imminent danger notification system data, conducts workflow analysis of Technical Operations Group (TOG) operations, and develops improvements to operating procedures.
- Develops and delivers fully operational hardware/software solutions that meet DS/EX/CTO and end-user requirements.
- Performs configuration, change, and release management, and maintains documentation for supported systems and business application software.
- Manages data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition, to support technical and operational requirements.
- Provides written and verbal briefings to executive-level and other State Department personnel.
- Participates in Department and interagency committees, conferences, and working groups to support the protection of national security information, facilities, and personnel.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Current U.S. Government final Top Secret security clearance and qualified for SCI access.
- Eligible for and able to obtain and maintain required security clearance/access approvals.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analysis, data science, or computer/software engineering (or related field) with at least two (2) years of experience.
- Proficiency in data analytics, including artificial intelligence/machine learning.
- Demonstrated experience working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition.
- Ability to brief diverse audiences of varying technical backgrounds.
- Ability to participate in and communicate with formal interagency committees, conferences, task forces, and working groups as required by the customer.
- Knowledge of State Department (preferred) or similar U.S. Government agency standards and directives, especially in relation to technical security.
- Knowledge and understanding of regulations governing the use of classified materials.
- Ability to effectively and professionally lead and interact with groups or individuals outside own organization.
- Knowledge of analytical risk management methodology and principles a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft O365.
- Highly adaptable, positive attitude, and ability to work as a member of a team.
Travel Requirements:
- 0-10% CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for training and other mission requirements.
