The Sarosiek Laboratory, led by Professor Kristopher A. Sarosiek in the JBL Center for Radiation Sciences, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our research group. We are interested in scientists studying the regulation of cell death, particularly in the context of human development and disease. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in cancer biology and therapeutics as well as neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field. Independent funding is not required; however, successful candidates will be expected to apply for research fellowships. Salary and fringe benefits will be commensurate with experience and provided in accordance with approved NIH standards. Applicants with a strong record of productivity and training in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell-based assays are particularly encouraged to apply.

About the Sarosiek Laboratory

The Sarosiek Laboratory conducts NIH-funded research on apoptosis and other forms of regulated cell death, including ferroptosis and pyroptosis. Our work seeks to understand how cell death pathways are regulated in healthy and diseased cells and how this regulation influences their responses to damage and stress, including exposure to therapy.

We aim to translate these discoveries into improved patient care by developing safer and more effective therapies as well as approaches to predict and prevent toxicity in healthy tissues arising from environmental, medical, and pathological exposures. Our research uses biochemical, cellular and molecular biology approaches to study cancer, development and neurodegeneration in vitro and in vivo to identify key regulators of cell death and identify opportunities for therapeutic intervention.
