The University Counseling Center (UCC) is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and aligned under the Wellness Team consisting of Campus Recreation, Student Health Services, Care and Resource Support, and Financial Wellness. Accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and American Psychological Association (APA), the UCC exists to ensure healthy and thriving lives for the University of Pittsburgh's diverse student population by providing crisis intervention, outreach, workshops, group, individual, and relationship therapy. The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a recent Master's graduate to join the UCC as Pre-Licensed Clinician with generalist experience (additional training or experience with eating disorders, trauma, and/or substance use is welcomed). This clinician will provide direct and indirect services in the UCC including but not limited to individual, relationship, and group therapy; clinical consultation; outreach programming; and clinical supervision and training as assigned. This clinician will have the opportunity to serve on committees within and outside of the UCC.
Job Summary
Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical psychotherapy services addressing a range of mental health concerns for a broad population of students/clients utilizing specialized techniques to foster student development, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health. Facilitates comprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and case reviews.
Essential Functions
- Participates in twice weekly individual supervision as well as one hour of group supervision per week.
- Provides clinical psychotherapy services for a range of mental health concerns, including prevention and crisis services, individual
and group therapy, intake services, and outreach.
- Utilizes specialized techniques to foster student development, remediate mental health problems, promote positive mental health,
develop individual treatment plans, and support academic success.
- Works with students, veterans, Office of Disability Services, and other specialized populations, faculty, and other University staff
as needed.
- Facilitates coordination of services.
- Collaborates with the medical psychiatrist when required; provides back-up for other therapists.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30-5p, with occasional evenings and weekends
Work Arrangement: Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.
