Accounting Clerk

About the Role

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk for a short-term assignment with a respected company in the death care industry located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to support daily financial operations in a compassionate and service-focused environment.

The Accounting Clerk will assist with a variety of accounting and administrative functions, helping ensure accurate financial records and timely processing of transactions.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Enter invoices, payments, and journal entries into the accounting system
• Reconcile bank statements and account balances
• Assist with month-end closing activities
• Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
• Research and resolve discrepancies with vendors and customers
• Prepare reports and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel
• Support the accounting team with special projects as needed

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts payable/accounts receivable experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in service-based industries
• Familiarity with general accounting principles
• Experience with reconciliations and financial reporting support
