Accounts Receivable Manager

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager to lead receivables operations for a manufacturing organization in Wilmington, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract opportunity is suited for a hands-on leader who can strengthen collection efforts, improve cash performance, and guide a team through a period of organizational change. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical ability with practical leadership to address complex account issues, enhance processes, and provide clear financial insight to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Lead daily accounts receivable and commercial collections activities, providing direct guidance to the team and ensuring steady progress on outstanding balances.
• Drive efforts to lower delinquent receivables by prioritizing aged accounts, advancing resolution strategies, and supporting stronger cash flow results.
• Take ownership of sensitive or high-exposure customer accounts, working through disputes, payment delays, and escalations to secure timely outcomes.
• Review receivables metrics, cash trends, and forecasting data to identify risks, measure performance, and present actionable updates to leadership.
• Evaluate current workflows to uncover inefficiencies, then introduce practical improvements that increase accuracy, speed, and overall AR effectiveness.
• Collaborate with billing, finance, and customer-facing teams to resolve invoice discrepancies, payment application concerns, and account-related questions.
• Provide coaching, direction, and accountability for AR staff to build a collaborative team environment and maintain consistent performance standards.
• Establish and reinforce sound receivables procedures, internal controls, and best practices that support reliable execution across AR operations.
• Contribute to process-related changes and system implementation activities as needed, helping maintain continuity across receivables operations during transitions.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience managing accounts receivable operations, including commercial collections and team leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of cash applications, billing processes, cash activity tracking, and receivables performance management.
• Ability to analyze aging reports, forecast cash collections, and communicate financial trends and risks to leadership.
• Experience handling complex or high-risk customer accounts and resolving payment, billing, or dispute-related issues.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and reporting tools used to monitor AR performance and support financial reporting needs.
• Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles and their connection to billing and receivables activity.
• Effective cross-functional communication skills with the ability to work closely with finance, operations, and customer-facing teams.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement, accountability, and operational efficiency.

Compensation

$51.46-$59.59 Hourly
