Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day accounting operations for a Contract position based in Sacramento, California. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing a high volume of financial transactions, maintaining accuracy in data entry, and supporting payment processing activities. The position also contributes to broader accounting tasks by preparing journal entries, organizing digital documentation, and helping keep records current and audit-ready.

Responsibilities:
• Process a substantial number of vendor invoices while maintaining strong accuracy and timely entry into the accounting system.
• Review and assign proper account codes to invoices to ensure expenses are recorded correctly.
• Assist with payment activities, including ACH transactions and scheduled check runs, in accordance with established timelines.
• Prepare and post journal entries to support routine accounting and month-end activities.
• Record and reconcile deposit information to help maintain accurate financial records.
• Organize, rename, and manage electronic files, including creating and assembling documents in Adobe Acrobat.
• Maintain complete and well-structured documentation to support transaction tracking and internal recordkeeping.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Hands-on experience processing invoices, applying account codes, and entering high-volume transactions with accuracy.
• Working knowledge of ACH payments, check runs, and general accounts payable procedures.
• Experience preparing journal entries and supporting routine accounting operations.
• Familiarity with Spectrum or comparable accounting software.
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and digital file management.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
