Sr. Development Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage the general ledger for assigned development projects or business units, including monthly close activities and preparation of financial reporting deliverables.
• Record recurring and nonrecurring journal entries while maintaining accurate supporting documentation for all accounting transactions.
• Analyze account activity, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and investigate variances or unusual items to ensure timely resolution.
• Evaluate development agreements to determine appropriate fee treatment and coordinate with technical accounting resources on complex accounting matters.
• Support cash activity by monitoring transactions and processing funding movements related to acquisitions and closings.
• Prepare and review construction draw activity and confirm alignment between draw schedules and capital asset balances in the ledger.
• Contribute to annual budgets and periodic forecasts by compiling financial data and assisting with project-level planning assumptions.
• Review fixed asset records to confirm capitalization is handled correctly and assets are recorded in accordance with accounting standards.
• Produce recurring and ad hoc financial reports for management, business partners, auditors, and other internal stakeholders.
• Assist with audit requests and complete tax reporting templates needed for federal tax support functions.
Qualifications:
• Strong experience with month-end close processes in an accounting environment.• Working knowledge of general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, and financial statement support.
• Experience performing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies across multiple accounts.
• Familiarity with bank and cash reconciliations, including transaction review and balancing activities.
• Ability to interpret accounting implications of contracts or development-related agreements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and business partners.
Compensation
