Financial Analyst

Compensation: $82 to $100 Yearly

We are looking for a Financial Analyst to support data-driven planning and fiscal decision-making for a growing government organization in California. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can interpret financial information, build useful models, and translate complex data into practical recommendations for leadership. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to budgeting, reporting, and performance analysis in a collaborative public-sector environment.

Responsibilities:
• Develop financial models and analytical tools to evaluate trends, forecast outcomes, and support strategic planning.
• Review budget-to-actual results, identify key variances, and explain financial performance to internal stakeholders.
• Gather, organize, and interpret financial and operational data from multiple sources to support reporting and decision-making.
• Prepare ad hoc analyses that help leadership assess costs, risks, and resource allocation needs.
• Monitor financial activity and recommend process improvements that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and reporting quality.
• Partner with accounting, operations, and management teams to deliver timely insights on fiscal performance and planning priorities.
• Create clear reports and presentations that summarize findings, highlight issues, and outline actionable recommendations.
• Assist with ongoing analytical initiatives, including data validation and updates to financial reporting or modeling processes when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Financial Analyst, Senior Accountant, Business Analyst, or similar analytical role.
• Demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis, modeling, and detailed data gathering.
• Experience conducting variance analysis and preparing ad hoc financial reporting.
• Strong proficiency in working with large datasets and applying data mining techniques to identify trends and issues.
• Ability to communicate financial findings clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and sound problem-solving skills in a deadline-driven environment.

Compensation

$82,000.00-$100,000.00 Yearly
