Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support accounting operations and financial reporting tied to mortgage servicing activities in Dallas, Texas. This Long-term Contract position will play an important role in maintaining accurate records, supporting close cycles, and helping ensure reporting meets internal standards and external obligations. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work across teams to resolve variances and strengthen financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Create and evaluate journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate general ledger activity.
• Review servicing-related income, costs, and associated balance sheet accounts to confirm proper accounting treatment.
• Perform detailed analysis and reconciliation of escrow, custodial, bank, and clearing accounts, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing schedules, validating balances, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Support the preparation of financial reports, audit deliverables, and documentation needed for regulatory or investor-related requests.
• Investigate accounting questions, apply relevant policies and guidance, and help maintain compliance with internal control expectations.
• Collaborate with servicing, treasury, and operations partners to address exceptions, improve workflows, and enhance reporting accuracy.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.• At least 4 years of accounting experience, preferably within mortgage servicing, banking, or financial services environments.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting principles and internal control practices.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting or enterprise financial systems.
• Ability to complete bank reconciliations, analyze variances, and manage multiple deadlines with accuracy.
• CPA certification, or active progress toward certification, is preferred.
Compensation
