Grants Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounting activity for grant-funded programs, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and align with applicable funding requirements.
• Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger integrity, and support timely month-end close procedures.
• Monitor grant budgets, track expenditures against approved funding, and assist with financial planning for current and upcoming awards.
• Reconcile balance sheet and grant-related accounts, including bank reconciliations, to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
• Produce financial reports and supporting schedules for internal stakeholders and external funding sources as needed.
• Review accounting processes for compliance with GAAP and organization-specific grant guidelines within a government, nonprofit, or Tribal environment.
• Partner with program and finance teams to clarify spending activity, document allocations, and strengthen financial accountability across grant programs.
Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including direct responsibility for grant accounting.• Background in a government, nonprofit, or Tribal organization is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger activity, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience with account reconciliation and bank reconciliation processes.
• Understanding of GAAP and financial controls in a regulated funding environment.
• Ability to manage grant budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting with a high level of accuracy.
Compensation
