Director of Development
Responsibilities:
• Partner with senior development leadership to turn technology goals into actionable plans and measurable execution priorities.
• Direct the creation, enhancement, and ongoing support of enterprise software applications with a focus on performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Supervise and coach developers by providing technical direction, feedback, and opportunities for growth across the team.
• Coordinate with business, IT, and operational stakeholders to shape solutions that support organizational objectives and day-to-day needs.
• Manage project timelines, development priorities, and team capacity to keep initiatives on track and aligned with roadmap commitments.
• Review application architecture and technical dependencies to identify risks early and address scalability, security, and stability concerns.
• Establish and uphold engineering standards through code review practices, development guidelines, and continuous process improvement.
• Champion Agile delivery methods by leading iterative planning, supporting sprint execution, and refining team workflows over time.
• Assess new technologies, tools, and frameworks that can improve the software development lifecycle and increase delivery efficiency.
• Investigate application issues, resolve defects, and maintain accurate technical documentation for systems, designs, and development efforts.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 7 years of software development experience, including 2+ years leading teams or managing development functions.
• Strong hands-on expertise with C# and VB using the Visual Studio development environment.
• Experience with SQL Server development, including data modeling, database structure design, and query performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and enterprise-level application development principles.
• Working knowledge of Agile or Scrum practices, including sprint planning, delivery coordination, and iterative development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple initiatives, mentor technical staff, and make sound decisions in a deadline-driven setting.
• Industry experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, or related operational systems is preferred
Compensation
