Position Summary:
Position will assist the Accounting and Finance Department with general ledger reconciliation and account maintenance, as well as financial reporting and audit support. Under daily supervision, the position’s responsibilities include processing accounts receivable/payable, preparing monthly bank reconciliations, analyzing, reconciling, and maintaining MBA data for fixed assets, payables, receivables, and producing journal entries as may be appropriate. The position ensures accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes accounts receivable and/or accounts payable batches.
- Reconciles accounts payable and/or accounts receivable sub-ledger.
- Generates monthly reconciliation of balance sheets, ensuring prepaid and accrual accounts are maintained appropriately. Prepare journal entries as needed for maintaining the accuracy of the financial statements. Prepare accruals for the month-end close.
- Updates fixed asset inventory schedules and recording of related depreciation and amortization.
- Constructs necessary schedules and gathers supporting documentation for the annual audit process, as well as for any ad hoc project reviews.
- Uploads the departmental expense budgets annually and/or as revised and assists with reviewing budget variances. Ensures 1099 records are accurate and issues IRS forms 1099 annually.
- Elaborates on accounting policies and procedures, as needed, in response to staff inquiries.
Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance plus a minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible experience in accounting operations, with one (1) year or more in a nonprofit organization. Prior experience with sales and use tax returns is desired. Experience with NetSuite accounting software and Aptify AMS is a plus.

- Requires well-developed written and verbal English communication skills to effectively interact with staff regarding detailed financial information and to translate business-related inquiries into financial matters.
- Requires proven knowledge of automated accounting systems and reporting tools.
- Requires strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
- Requires proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to identify payables that should be taxed and to prepare timely sales and use tax returns.
The current recruitment range for this role is $72,000 - 77,000
