Job Summary

The Production Test Technician will perform standardized electrical and functional testing on unmanned aircraft system (UAS) subassemblies in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Testing will include polarity and continuity verification, controlled power-up, communication with electronic speed controllers, and verification of motor identification, rotation, direction, and response. This is a production test position and does not involve flight testing. This is a full-time contract position expected to last approximately 2–3 months, with potential conversion to full-time employment based on performance and business needs.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Review production travelers and verify that required assembly and inspection operations are complete.
  • Perform pre-power polarity, continuity, resistance, and short-circuit checks.
  • Connect assemblies to current-limited power supplies and approved test equipment.
  • Establish direct communication with electronic speed controllers using the approved test interface.
  • Command and verify individual motor operation.
  • Confirm correct motor number, response, rotation direction, and basic operating condition.
  • Observe assemblies for abnormal current draw, noise, vibration, heating, or intermittent operation.
  • Record test results accurately in the applicable production system or traveler.
  • Apply required acceptance labels or status identification.
  • Segregate failed units and provide clear failure descriptions for troubleshooting or rework.
  • Assist with basic fault isolation using approved procedures.
  • Maintain test equipment, cables, fixtures, and workstations in an organized condition.
  • Follow electrical safety, ESD-control, and controlled power-up procedures.
  • Support production-rate improvement, test-fixture development, and cross-training as required.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen (required due to defense and export-controlled program requirements).
  • Experience performing electrical, electronic, electromechanical, or production testing.
  • Ability to use a digital multimeter, current-limited power supply, and computer-based test interface.
  • Ability to follow standardized test procedures consistently and accurately.
  • Basic understanding of voltage, current, resistance, continuity, polarity, and electrical shorts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize abnormal equipment behavior.
  • Ability to accurately document results and maintain unit traceability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Preferred: Experience testing motors, electronic speed controllers, drones, robotics, radio-controlled systems, or other electromechanical equipment.
  • Preferred: Experience using ESC configuration or motor-control software.
  • Preferred: Experience with UAS, FPV, PX4, ArduPilot, or similar systems.
  • Preferred: Experience with production test fixtures and controlled troubleshooting procedures.
  • Preferred: Mechanical or electrical assembly experience that supports basic fault isolation.
  • Preferred: Experience working in an aerospace, defense, electronics, ISO 9001, or AS9100 production environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while operating test equipment and observing unit performance.
  • Ability to handle powered assemblies safely, including motors under load.
  • Ability to lift and move parts, fixtures, and materials up to approximately 25–35 lbs as needed.
  • Work is performed on-site in a manufacturing/production test facility.

Travel

  • Minimal to no travel required for this position.
