We are seeking an Advanced Cryogenic Engineer in our Broomfield, CO, Location to join our team to work on advanced cryogenic infrastructure and delivery systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and experience with complex industrial or R&D systems. This role involves operating, troubleshooting, and improving helium liquefaction, recovery, and distribution systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility performance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering and development of cryogenic systems with a focus on liquid helium liquefaction, recovery, storage, and distribution systems.
- Support the operation, optimization, and continuous improvement of a large-scale helium liquefaction and recovery facility operating in support of R&D programs.
- Optimize existing systems for maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Evaluate and resolve complex cryogenic system issues involving liquefaction processes, turbomachinery, compressors, heat exchangers, utility systems, controls, and instrumentation.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for equipment failures, operational disruptions, and facility performance issues.
- Assess and improve supporting utility systems including LN2 cooling systems, cooling water systems, chillers, and associated facility infrastructure.
- Evaluate and optimize helium recovery, compression, purification, and storage systems to maximize facility efficiency and recovery rates.
- Develop and execute reliability improvement initiatives to support facility uptime and production objectives.
- Contribute to R&D projects aimed at improving cryogenic processes and expanding application capabilities.
- Install, commission, and troubleshoot cryogenic turbomachinery, control instrumentation, and associated control systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, scientists, facilities personnel, vendors, and project teams to ensure successful system integration and implementation.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation related to cryogenic systems, including process workflows, operating procedures, control configurations, safety documentation, and engineering specifications.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s Degree Minimum
- Minimum 4+ years of engineering experience operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex industrial or R&D systems.
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
- Advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Familiarity with helium liquefaction and recovery systems.
- Experience supporting industrial gas, cryogenic, LNG, hydrogen, or similar process facilities.
- Experience with rotating equipment, refrigeration systems, and industrial utilities.
- Experience leading commissioning, startup, or performance optimization activities.
- Strong foundation in engineering principles, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
- Advanced certifications or specialized training in cryogenic engineering.
Compensation & Benefits:
The pay range for this role is $113,000 – $142,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
