Health Information Assistant
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and organize patient health records within EHR and EMR systems, ensuring documentation is current, complete, and accurately indexed.
• Process requests for medical information in accordance with privacy standards, internal procedures, and applicable release-of-information guidelines.
• Review records for completeness and follow up on missing, inconsistent, or incomplete documentation to support accurate file management.
• Enter, update, and verify data in health information systems with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Support day-to-day HIM department activities by retrieving, filing, scanning, and tracking medical documentation as needed.
• Generate and interpret basic record-related reports or charts to help monitor documentation status and workflow activity.
• Assist with records-related administrative tasks, including handling document intake and supporting ongoing process updates within the department.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in health information management, medical records, or a similar healthcare administrative role.• Working knowledge of EHR and EMR platforms and the ability to navigate digital patient record systems efficiently.
• Strong data entry skills with consistent attention to accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
• Familiarity with release-of-information procedures and the handling of sensitive medical documentation.
• Understanding of HIM practices, medical record maintenance, and documentation standards in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a detail-driven environment.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate professionally with clinical and administrative teams.
Compensation
