The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is currently accepting applications for a full-time doctoral-level faculty researcher. A PhD, MD, or DO in Sciences or Medicine is required to be appointed at the rank of assistant professor in the tenure stream. Our research faculty is invested in conducting rehabilitation-focused research aimed at finding ways to improve the lives of people experiencing the impact of acute injuries and/or chronic conditions and disability. Current active focus areas include spinal cord injury, brain injury, musculoskeletal conditions, pediatric rehabilitation, neuropsychology, assistive technology, neural engineering, and regenerative rehabilitation research. Newly recruited faculty members will be responsible for developing an independent line of externally funded research that builds on or expands the department’s current rehabilitation research portfolio. Additional responsibilities may also include contributing to the development of the department’s research and educational programs, resident/medical student mentoring, and/or another department service/committee work. The successful candidate must have a doctoral-level degree and demonstrate organizational, communication, teaching, and leadership skills.

Evidence of scholarly productivity is required for appointment in the tenure stream, including teaching and academic service, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a history of successful funding acquisition. The primary requirement for conferral of tenure is an outstanding record of sustained independent scholarship across these various activities.
