Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a legal accounting team on a contract-to-permanent basis. This position is well suited for someone who is highly organized, accurate with financial data, and comfortable supporting invoice processing in a detail-oriented office environment. The person in this role will help keep vendor payments current, work closely with legal support staff and accounting colleagues, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the department.

• Enter vendor invoices into the firm's legal accounting system with a high level of accuracy and proper general ledger coding.

• Review accounts payable records and reconcile invoice details to help ensure timely and accurate payment processing.

• Coordinate with legal assistants and the accounting team to resolve invoice questions, approvals, and payment timing.

• Assist with routine check run preparation and other payment-related activities as part of the accounts payable cycle.

• Maintain organized documentation for invoices, coding support, and payment records in accordance with department procedures.

• Provide day-to-day support for additional accounting tasks and special assignments as requested by the team.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in an accounts payable position.

• Prior experience working in a law firm or legal office accounting environment is preferred.

• Working knowledge of invoice entry, invoice coding, and accounts payable processing.

• Familiarity with check runs and payment support activities.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage work accurately and efficiently.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with accounting staff and legal support personnel.

• Solid organizational skills and basic technical proficiency with accounting software and related office tools.
