Accounting Assistant

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial operations for an import/export organization in Covington, Louisiana. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing both payables and receivables in a fast-paced business environment. The person in this role will help maintain accurate records, reconcile accounts, and contribute to efficient accounting processes using QuickBooks.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices, verify coding accuracy, and prepare payments in a timely manner.

• Manage customer billing activities, record incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances as needed.

• Reconcile bank statements and accounting records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

• Maintain accurate financial documentation and ensure transactions are entered correctly in QuickBooks.

• Assist with day-to-day accounting support by organizing records and tracking routine account activity.

• Review invoice details for completeness and proper account allocation before submission.

• Partner with internal team members to help keep accounting operations organized and up to date.

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting accounting functions such as accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Ability to perform bank reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks for transaction entry and record maintenance.
• Knowledge of invoice coding and general accounting documentation practices.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external contacts.

Compensation

$19.00-$21.00 Hourly
