State & Local Tax Manager

Compensation: $150 to $200 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced State & Local Tax Manager to join a growing tax practice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This role centers on Sales & Use Tax matters and offers the opportunity to advise clients on complex state tax issues while partnering with senior leadership on high-impact engagements. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a client-focused environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead Sales & Use Tax consulting projects for clients across a range of industries, delivering practical guidance tailored to their business needs.
• Direct state tax audit support activities, helping clients respond to inquiries, resolve issues, and navigate examinations efficiently.
• Conduct detailed research on state and local tax regulations and translate findings into clear recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee several engagements at once, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and client expectations are consistently met.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and state taxing agencies, maintaining clear and effective communication throughout each engagement.
• Review work prepared by less experienced team members and provide coaching to strengthen technical accuracy and career development.
• Partner with firm leadership on complex client matters and contribute to broader practice growth initiatives.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting state and local taxation and assess their impact on client strategies.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in State & Local Tax, with a strong emphasis on Sales & Use Tax.
• Prior experience performing at the Manager or Senior Manager level is preferred.
• Demonstrated success supporting or leading state tax audit matters from initial review through resolution.
• Working knowledge of Florida state tax rules is strongly preferred.
• Ability to independently manage technical tax projects and maintain strong client relationships.
• Strong research, analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Background in public accounting or tax consulting is preferred.
• Familiarity with corporate tax compliance, corporate income tax, annual income tax provision, and related compliance software is a plus.

Compensation

$150,000.00-$200,000.00 Yearly
