Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Produce monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for multiple entities, ensuring completeness and accuracy in routine reporting.
• Record period-end accruals, prepaid expense activity, and other adjusting entries needed to close each accounting cycle properly.
• Post and examine journal entries while reconciling balance sheet accounts to maintain an accurate general ledger.
• Contribute to the annual budgeting process and help assemble financial projections for upcoming periods.
• Develop pro forma models for new initiatives and evaluate projected performance through financial analysis.
• Conduct comparative market reviews, including rate and cost assessments, to support pricing and operational decision-making.
• Prepare port rent reporting, calculate related accruals, and ensure amounts are reflected correctly in the accounting records.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice entry, weekly payment processing, cash application, and deposit preparation.
• Complete required quarterly and annual filings for government agencies and assist with lease, tenant revenue, and rent-related financial reviews.
Qualifications:
• Experience in staff accounting or a similar accounting role with responsibility for month-end close activities.• Working knowledge of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Familiarity with corporate tax concepts, including exposure to corporate tax returns and sales tax processes.
• Ability to prepare financial reports, budgets, and supporting schedules with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable analyzing financial data, reviewing agreements, and identifying variances or revenue concerns.
• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for reporting and reconciliations.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
