Fiscal Clerk

We are looking for a dependable Fiscal Clerk to support a local government behavioral health office in White Plains, Maryland. This Long-term Contract position will provide a mix of front-desk coverage and back-office billing assistance while the team works through a high volume of outstanding tasks. The ideal candidate is comfortable interacting with a diverse client population, managing appointments, and assisting with insurance-related billing activities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome visitors professionally and provide front-line assistance.

• Coordinate and schedule client appointments, ensuring calendars are updated accurately and efficiently.

• Support insurance billing activities by reviewing claims, tracking outstanding balances, and assisting with claim follow-up.

• Enter and maintain billing and client information within the organization's electronic records and internal systems.

• Post payments accurately and help reconcile routine fiscal documentation for the billing team.

• Provide administrative support to the back office to reduce workload delays and improve day-to-day operations.

• Communicate clearly with staff, clients, and insurance representatives to resolve routine questions and billing issues.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in medical billing, insurance claims processing, or a related fiscal support role.
• Ability to verify patient or insurance eligibility and assist with claim-related follow-up.
• Background in receptionist or front-desk duties, including greeting clients and scheduling appointments.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to remain detail oriented in a behavioral health environment.
• Familiarity with EHR platforms or similar electronic documentation systems.
• Accurate data entry skills with close attention to detail in billing and payment posting tasks.
• Willingness to complete required pre-employment steps, including HIPAA testing and fingerprinting.

Compensation

$16.15-$18.70 Hourly
