Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations for a large manufacturing organization based in Glen Allen, Virginia. This Long-term Contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to multi-state financial activities while ensuring accuracy across core accounting and tax functions. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger experience, sound judgment with journal entries, and hands-on knowledge of corporate and sales tax processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial records.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to support reliable month-end reporting.

• Assist with corporate tax activities, including the preparation of supporting documentation and return-related schedules.

• Manage sales tax tasks across multiple states, helping ensure filings and records are complete and accurate.

• Support accounting operations for a large corporate environment by organizing financial data and maintaining compliance with internal standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather information needed for reporting, tax preparation, and account analysis.

• Review financial transactions for proper classification and alignment with accounting policies.

• Contribute to ongoing project-based accounting initiatives and provide support where additional staff coverage is needed.

Qualifications:

• Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger processes and journal entry preparation.
• Hands-on experience with corporate tax and corporate tax return support.
• Practical understanding of sales tax requirements, ideally in a multi-state environment.
• Ability to analyze account activity, identify variances, and resolve issues accurately.
• Proficiency in maintaining detailed financial records with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong organizational and communication skills in a large corporate setting.

Compensation

$33.00-$35.00 Hourly
