Senior SAP TM Functional Consultant – S/4HANA Upgrade Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a Senior SAP TM Functional Consultant to support a large-scale SAP S/4HANA upgrade initiative within a complex global supply chain environment. This consultant will play a key role in assessing upgrade impacts, validating transportation and logistics processes, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring business continuity throughout the upgrade lifecycle.

This is a highly hands-on role suited for an experienced SAP Transportation Management professional who can execute functional analysis, troubleshoot issues, participate in integration testing, and collaborate across technical and business teams during a major SAP upgrade program.

Location: Remote (U.S. based preferred)

Duration: Approximately 6 months with potential extension (September 2026 – March 2027)

Travel: Minimal to none anticipated

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the impact of SAP S/4HANA upgrades on Transportation Management business processes and configurations.
• Review SAP release documentation, simplification items, and upgrade-related deliverables to identify required remediation activities.
• Conduct readiness assessments and support remediation planning across development, QA, and production environments.
• Execute and support integration testing, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), defect resolution, deployment activities, and hypercare support.
• Analyze and troubleshoot functional and integration-related issues impacting transportation and logistics operations.
• Partner with technical teams supporting EDI, IDocs, custom applications, and third-party integrations.
• Validate transportation processes including freight planning, shipment execution, carrier-related workflows, and logistics operations.
• Coordinate closely with business stakeholders, application development teams, testing teams, and change management resources.
• Support deployment and post-production stabilization efforts while maintaining operational continuity.
• Contribute to additional SAP deployment initiatives and continuous improvement projects as bandwidth allows.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on SAP Transportation Management (TM) experience.
• Proven experience supporting SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Strong background in SAP TM functional configuration, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience participating in SAP upgrades, migrations, or large-scale enhancement projects.
• Hands-on experience developing and executing test scenarios, integration testing, SIT, and UAT activities.
• Experience performing root cause analysis and defect management.
• Strong understanding of transportation and logistics business processes.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in enterprise SAP environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

•Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting global SAP deployments or upgrades across multiple regions.
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA 2025 upgrade programs.
• Experience with Embedded TM and On-Premise SAP environments.
• Familiarity with SAP EWM integration.
• Experience supporting EDI, IDocs, and custom SAP integrations.
• Knowledge of Order-to-Cash (O2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
• Experience with SAP Solution Manager, SAP Readiness Check, or Focused Build.
• SAP TM certification is a plus but not required.
