Accounting Manager
Our client in Newark is seeking an Accounting Manager/Asst. Controller-level consultant for a medical leave coverage. Our Accounting Manager will oversee financial reporting, close activities, compliance, and internal controls while providing leadership across key accounting functions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver accurate financial information that supports business decisions. Ideally you will work onsite in Newark. The role is expected to pay $65-$80/hr. DOE.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the preparation of financial statements and management reports that highlight operating results, spending trends, cash activity, and overall financial performance
• Evaluate financial exposure and performance trends, then recommend practical actions to address risks and improve results
• Provide leadership with regular, timely insight into financial status, business performance, and progress across organizational initiatives
• Manage external and internal audit support activities by coordinating documentation, resolving inquiries, and ensuring readiness throughout the review process
• Prepare and submit accounting and financial reports needed for regulatory and compliance purposes
• Oversee banking relationships, including cash management activities and authorization of appropriate treasury transactions
• Direct balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and related general ledger review to maintain accurate records
• Own the monthly and year-end close process, ensuring journal entries, account analysis, and reporting are completed accurately and on schedule
• Administer tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions and support payroll-related accounting oversight
• Maintain the chart of accounts, strengthen financial controls, and help ensure required legal and regulatory filings are completed in accordance with applicable standards
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Certified Public Accountant designation is a plus
• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with 8 to 10 years strongly preferred
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Experience preparing financial reports in accordance with GAAP and supporting audit preparation activities
• Knowledge of internal controls, consolidations, and intercompany eliminations within a multi-entity environment
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, along with hands-on experience using NetSuite
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly with leadership, and drive process improvement initiatives
