Fractional/Interim IT Operations Consultant
Responsibilities:
• Conduct a comprehensive review of the company’s infrastructure, including networks, servers, and core systems, to determine the underlying causes of recent service disruptions.
• Create clear documentation of the current technology environment and develop a prioritized improvement roadmap with budgetary estimates and risk considerations.
• Assess the responsibilities, capacity, and effectiveness of internal IT staff, engineering personnel, and contractors to identify coverage gaps, overlap, and operational bottlenecks.
• Evaluate the current contractor group supporting business initiatives and provide recommendations on whether to retain, extend, convert, or release resources based on value and cost.
• Review third-party technology and telecom vendors, comparing service quality, risk exposure, and pricing to support renegotiation or replacement decisions where needed.
• Develop a formal business continuity and disaster recovery framework that defines escalation procedures, recovery objectives, and response expectations.
• Provide advisory oversight for ongoing enterprise application and integration efforts, offering regular guidance, surfacing concerns, and sharing status updates with executive leadership.
• Partner with non-technical stakeholders to explain operational findings, remediation priorities, and investment recommendations in a clear business-focused manner.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience leading an IT department or serving in a senior IT leadership role such as IT Director, VP of IT, or comparable position.• Demonstrated ability to assess both technical operations and team structure in organizations with approximately 150 to 200 employees, preferably across multiple locations.
• Strong background in IT operations, infrastructure review, and environment stabilization across networking, servers, and enterprise systems.
• Experience developing remediation plans, continuity strategies, and operational improvement recommendations supported by cost and risk analysis.
• Familiarity with vendor management, contractor evaluation, and service delivery oversight in business-critical technology environments.
• Exposure to ERP or business system transition planning, such as NetSuite, Acumatica, or similar platforms.
• Ability to work in an advisory capacity, influencing stakeholders and mentoring existing technology leadership without assuming direct line authority.
• Experience in ecommerce or warehouse-supported business environments is highly preferred.
