Hybrid work option (currently in WI only), combining remote flexibility with time on-site at our Oshkosh, WI office. Details will be arranged with your business leader. Note that there will be situations when the associate may choose or be asked to return onsite, which would be coordinated and scheduled in advance whenever possible.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will help build and execute strategy, leading others, creating effective structures and processes, and collaborating with people at all levels within the organization. The successful candidate will be a legal leader who believes in the power of a clear purpose and strong culture to produce remarkable results.

The General Counsel serves as the organization's lead legal advisor and compliance executive for our US and UK operations, providing strategic counsel to executive leadership while overseeing legal affairs, regulatory compliance, ethics, risk management, employment law matters, and corporate governance. This position partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Operations, IT, and senior leadership to support business objectives, protect organizational interests, and promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and compliance. The role is responsible for legal strategy, corporate governance, employment counsel, policy and contract management, corporate compliance and regulatory affairs, records management, intellectual property management, and engagement with external legal resources.

Legal Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Serve as the company’s principal legal advisor, providing practical, business-focused guidance on strategy, operations, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with executive leadership to assess legal implications of business decisions and support organizational growth.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and specialized advisors.

Governance, Compliance & Risk

  • Lead corporate governance, including board-level support, organizational compliance, and maintenance of corporate records.
  • Oversee the company’s ethics and compliance programs, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and industry requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and guide the organization in managing legal and compliance risks.

Employment & Policy Guidance

  • Advise on employment and labor-related matters, partnering closely with Human Resources on employee relations, investigations, and workforce decisions.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and effectiveness of company policies and governance frameworks.

Commercial & Operational Legal Support

  • Provide legal oversight for contracts and commercial agreements, including vendor, technology, and partnership arrangements.
  • Identify risks and support business transactions with practical, solution-oriented guidance.

Data, Records & Intellectual Property

  • Guide practices related to information governance, records management, and legal holds.
  • Advise on intellectual property, data protection, and privacy considerations in partnership with cross-functional teams.

Leadership & Culture

  • Build strong partnerships across the organization and foster a culture of ethical business conduct.
  • Lead compliance communications, education, and awareness initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on legal, ethical, and governance matters.

Required education/experience:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of legal experience, preferably with experience in both a major law firm and in-house corporate legal team for a publicly traded organization.
  • Experience in advising organizations on matters involving compliance, investigations, and corporate governance.
  • Experience in a people leader role with 3-5 years of direct management or supervision.
  • Public company experience with an international company or firm is an advantage.
  • Member in good standing with the Wisconsin Bar.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly analyze legal and business risks and propose effective, commercial solutions in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team, working ‘hands on’ to coach others on risk identification, management and solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Actively works to build relationships within and outside the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
