Business Relationship Manager
Job Summary
The Business Relationship Manager is responsible for managing and growing the Retail Business Development Officer portfolio across the Bank's retail footprint. This position serves as a producing sales leader accountable for driving deposit growth, customer acquisition, relationship expansion, referral generation, and business development performance through both individual production and the leadership of Retail Business Development Officers.
The Business Relationship Manager actively develops new consumer and small business relationships, expands existing customer relationships, sources deposit opportunities, identifies lending opportunities, and partners closely with Commercial Banking and other business lines to support portfolio growth. This position serves as a player-coach, maintaining personal production goals while leading Retail Business Development Officers in achieving growth objectives, expanding relationships, and increasing both deposit and loan production throughout the portfolio.
The role maintains a strong presence within the communities served by the Bank and is expected to actively prospect, network, build strategic relationships, and generate opportunities that contribute to growth objectives.
Essential Functions/Duties
The following duties are representative of the essential functions of the position:
- Manage and grow the Retail Business Development Officer portfolio throughout the Bank's retail footprint.
- Provide leadership, coaching, development, and performance management to Retail Business Development Officers.
- Drive accountability for deposit growth, loan referral production, customer acquisition, relationship expansion, pipeline activity, and achievement of established sales goals.
- Serve as a player-coach by maintaining individual production goals while leading Retail Business Development Officers to achieve portfolio growth objectives.
- Source new deposit relationships through prospecting, networking, community involvement, referral development, and business development activities.
- Develop new consumer and small business relationships while expanding existing customer relationships and household relationships.
- Partner with Commercial Banking teams to identify lending opportunities, coordinate relationship development efforts, and support growth of both deposit and loan portfolios.
- Monitor individual and team pipelines, sales performance, referral activity, and growth results while implementing action plans to improve performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, community organizations, centers of influence, chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, and strategic partners throughout the communities served by the Bank.
- Represent the Bank at networking events, business functions, community activities, and relationship-building events to generate opportunities and strengthen market presence.
- Utilize customer insights, market intelligence, and performance reporting to identify opportunities for relationship expansion and portfolio growth.
- Prepare and communicate portfolio performance, sales results, pipeline activity, customer acquisition metrics, and growth outcomes to leadership.
- Champion the Bank's One Bank, One Team, One Brand culture through accountability, collaboration, communication, and growth-focused leadership.
Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Banking, Management, Marketing, or a related field normally required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of retail banking products, services, deposit gathering strategies, relationship management, and business development practices.
- Proven sales, prospecting, networking, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong understanding of consumer and small business banking products and services.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire new relationships and expand existing customer relationships.
- Ability to coach, develop, motivate, and hold sales-focused employees accountable for results.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive banking, business development, sales, relationship management, or customer acquisition experience required. Previous leadership, coaching, or sales management experience preferred. Demonstrated success in deposit generation, relationship growth, business development, and customer acquisition strongly preferred.

Travel Requirements: Frequent travel throughout the Bank's footprint is required.
Scheduling: Standard business hours with flexibility to support strategic initiatives, training programs, operational projects and business needs as required.
