Lead Platform Engineer, Snowflake

We are looking for an experienced Lead Platform Engineer, Snowflake to help shape and support enterprise data platforms in New York, New York. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who combines deep Snowflake knowledge with broad experience across cloud-based and traditional database environments. The person in this role will guide platform reliability, security, and performance while partnering with technical teams on architecture, modernization, and data movement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the administration, configuration, and ongoing support of Snowflake environments to ensure stability, security, and strong performance.
• Improve platform efficiency by analyzing workloads, tuning queries, and optimizing storage and compute usage across large-scale data ecosystems.
• Partner with engineering and data teams to design scalable data architectures and support effective data modeling practices.
• Oversee database operations across multiple platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, within cloud-based environments such as AWS.
• Drive data migration efforts and help implement platform enhancements that improve reliability, maintainability, and long-term scalability.
• Provide technical leadership to the team by mentoring engineers, reviewing solutions, and guiding best practices across the data platform landscape.
• Develop and maintain automation, scripts, or tooling in Python to streamline operational tasks and support platform management.
• Use Git-based workflows to manage changes, support collaboration, and maintain version control across engineering deliverables.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience supporting complex, large-scale data environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Snowflake, including administration, access control, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure, with AWS strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data migration practices.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or platform support activities.
• Experience using Git for source control and collaborative development workflows.
• Background working across multiple database or data platform technologies.
• Prior experience serving as a technical lead, mentor, or team leader.

Compensation

$38.00-$44.00 Hourly
