Payroll Administrator
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to support payroll and leave administration in Paramus, New Jersey. This is a Long-term Contract position offering an onsite schedule of 16-24 hours per week across 2 or 3 days. The person in this role will oversee weekly and biweekly payroll processing, maintain accuracy across employee records, and help manage benefit-related programs including leave, disability, and retirement deductions.
Responsibilities:
• Process weekly payroll for a smaller employee group and biweekly payroll for a larger population, ensuring timely and accurate pay for hourly staff.
• Administer payroll activities across multiple states while reviewing time, earnings, deductions, and tax-related details for accuracy.
• Manage employee leave programs, including family leave and disability-related cases, and coordinate required payroll updates tied to those absences.
• Support 401(k) deduction processing and reconcile payroll-related benefit withholdings as part of each pay cycle.
• Maintain payroll records within the payroll system and assist with updates to employee information, pay changes, and related documentation.
• Use spreadsheets and payroll reports to audit transactions, research discrepancies, and resolve payroll issues efficiently.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to respond to payroll questions and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
• Experience handling full-cycle payroll processing for both weekly and biweekly pay schedules.• Background supporting payroll for employee populations ranging from approximately 100 to 500 employees.
• Knowledge of multi-state payroll practices, including taxation, deductions, and compliance considerations.
• Hands-on experience with leave administration, including family leave and disability claims.
• Familiarity with payroll systems; experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work accurately with payroll data, benefit deductions, and employee records in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Excel for payroll tracking, audits, and reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
