Fixed Asset Supervisor
We are looking for an experienced Fixed Asset Supervisor to lead fixed asset accounting activities for our manufacturing operations in Norfolk, Virginia. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate asset records, dependable financial reporting, and strong compliance across the full asset lifecycle. The role partners closely with finance, operations, and planning teams to support business decisions through clear reporting, disciplined controls, and continuous improvement in asset-related processes.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the accounting oversight of fixed and intangible assets, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, retirements, and disposals.
• Direct regular asset record reviews and physical inventory validation to confirm completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
• Manage the fixed asset subledger and related systems, maintaining reliable data, strengthening controls, and reconciling balances to the general ledger.
• Improve accounting workflows and reporting methods through process enhancements and automation initiatives tied to property, plant, equipment, leases, and intangible assets.
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of intangible asset activity in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Partner with FP& A, operations, and other internal stakeholders to align asset reporting with budgeting, forecasting, and operational needs.
• Support acquisition-related integration work by incorporating newly obtained assets into established accounting and reporting processes.
• Prepare analyses, audit support, and special reports for leadership while assisting with additional accounting priorities as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is a plus.• At least 7 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, ideally within a public company or similarly fast-moving environment.
• Strong background in fixed asset accounting, including depreciation, subledger management, reconciliations, inventory validation, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting controls, compliance standards, and audit support practices related to long-term assets.
• Proficiency with ERP and financial systems, along with advanced Excel and strong overall technical aptitude.
• Ability to evaluate ambiguous situations, apply sound judgment, and introduce structure that improves accuracy and efficiency.
• Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to meet critical deadlines, including occasional extended hours or limited travel.
Compensation
