Senior Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support a respected private equity organization in San Francisco, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a hybrid environment, with one day onsite and the remainder of the week working remotely, and who brings strong expertise in expense review, journal entry preparation, and core accounting operations. The role is especially well suited to professionals with exposure to alternative investments and a genuine interest in using AI-driven ideas to strengthen accounting workflows and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
• Review employee and business expense activity in Concur to ensure accuracy, policy compliance, and proper accounting treatment.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to daily and monthly accounting activity, maintaining complete and well-supported records.
• Support month-end close by coordinating ledger updates, validating balances, and helping deliver timely financial information.
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies through to resolution.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by monitoring transactions and identifying items requiring correction or follow-up.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve expense reporting and accounting processes, including participation in workflow automation initiatives where appropriate.
• Contribute accounting support within a private equity environment, applying an understanding of fund-related activity and alternative investment structures.
• Assist in documenting procedures and recommending practical improvements that enhance accuracy, control, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of accounting experience, with demonstrated capability in senior-level accounting responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger management, and journal entry preparation.
• Strong background in account reconciliation and bank reconciliation activities.
• Proficiency with Concur, including expense review and related accounting processes.
• Prior experience in private equity, private equity funds, or the broader alternative investment sector is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to analyze and resolve transactional discrepancies.
• Interest in process improvement and technology-enabled efficiencies, including curiosity about AI applications in finance operations.

Compensation

$52.25-$60.50 Hourly
