We are seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to help design, evaluate, and continuously improve security architecture across a complex enterprise technology environment.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who has grown from an engineering background into security architecture and still enjoys getting involved technically when needed. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of network security, cloud security, automation, and enterprise architecture experience and will work closely with infrastructure, engineering, and security teams to build scalable and secure solutions.

The Cybersecurity Architect will help establish technical standards, design layered security controls, evaluate emerging technologies, and ensure security is embedded into infrastructure, cloud, and application environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and maintain security architecture across network, cloud, hybrid, and application environments.
  • Lead the design of layered security controls across complex enterprise environments.
  • Remain hands-on with technical architecture, engineering, troubleshooting, and security initiatives when needed.
  • Design and support enterprise-scale network and cloud security solutions.
  • Partner with infrastructure and engineering teams to ensure security is incorporated into new systems and technology initiatives by design.
  • Provide technical guidance around network security, firewalls, cloud environments, automation, identity, and workload security.
  • Work with teams to improve and automate security processes, controls, and workflows.
  • Develop reusable security architecture patterns, technical standards, and reference architectures.
  • Support the implementation and evolution of DevSecOps and GitOps practices, including source control, peer review, automation, policy as code, and traceable change management.
  • Utilize and promote strong Git and collaborative source control practices across security and engineering workflows.
  • Conduct architecture and design reviews, identify security risks, and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Support threat modeling, risk assessments, and security control mapping against established frameworks and standards.
  • Partner with security operations teams to ensure architecture supports effective monitoring, detection, and incident response.
  • Evaluate and recommend security technologies and architectural improvements based on evolving threats and business needs.
  • Support the organization's evolving network and infrastructure environment, including exposure to technologies such as Ubiquiti.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate security, compliance, and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point and provide mentorship and guidance to engineers and security team members.

Qualifications:

Required Experience and Skills

  • 5-7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network engineering, or security architecture roles.
  • 3+ years of experience architecting or securing enterprise technology environments.
  • Strong hands-on technical background, ideally having progressed from an engineering or infrastructure role into security architecture.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise security architecture and layered security control design.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and securing enterprise-scale network and cloud environments.
  • Strong networking and network security experience, including an understanding of firewalls, network architecture, connectivity, and security automation.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, preferably AWS, Azure, or another enterprise cloud environment.
  • Strong experience with automation, scripting, infrastructure/security automation, or automated security workflows.
  • Solid understanding of secure architecture patterns and modern security tooling.
  • Strong understanding of source control and collaborative Git workflows.
  • Working knowledge of DevSecOps and GitOps principles.
  • Experience with security frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and Zero Trust Architecture.
  • Strong understanding of threat modeling and risk-based architectural decision-making.
  • Experience working across complex enterprise environments and bringing together disparate technologies, systems, and processes into scalable security standards.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS security is highly preferred; however, strong cloud security experience with Azure or another major cloud platform will also be considered.
  • Exposure to or experience with Ubiquiti network technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with identity and access management, network security, cloud security, and workload protection.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure modernization, cloud transformation, or enterprise security initiatives.
  • Security architecture or cloud security certifications such as CISSP, SABSA, AWS Security, or Azure Security are a plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.

Compensation
