Staff Accountant

A company is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join the finance team in Santa Barbara, California. This role is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Based on general knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger adjustments.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
• Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Help ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable accounting regulations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.

Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, payroll, and leadership teams.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
• Knowledge of account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
