Job Summary
Reviews medical insurance claims and medical charges and ensures appropriately assigned diagnosis code and procedure code. Investigates insurance company denials, processes difficult claims, and resolves moderately complex issues. Audits patient accounts, answers inquiries for assigned accounts, and updates related billing and financial documents and software.
Essential Functions
The candidate must have excellent communication and customer service abilities. Working knowledge of medical/dental diagnosis and procedure coding (e.g. ICD-10, CPT) and familiarity with dental EHR software is preferred. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions: liaison between the faculty practice and 3rd-party billing agency, ensure accurate claims processing, assist in claim denials and follow ups, timely payment posting, effective resolution of billing and patient account issues, manage provider procedure entries, assist in researching/locating insurance EOBs and initiate and manage outbound calls to patients regarding outstanding balances.
Physical Effort
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Position requires moderate physical effort. May be required to sit or stand for an extended time.
