DIVISION OVERVIEW:
Goodwill SWPA’s Human Services division is responsible for making Goodwill’s overarching vision a reality: enhancing people’s dignity and quality of life by strengthening communities and helping those with barriers to employment reach their full potential through workforce education and support. The Human Services division fulfills this mission providing high quality, outcome-oriented services for program participants by utilizing a comprehensive service delivery model covering a broad array of social programs.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
Within the Human Services Division is the Community Services department, a subsection of the Education, Training, and Community Services branch. Community Services coordinates resources and services, both within Goodwill SWPA and through external partners, for participants across all Goodwill programs. Individuals not enrolled in Goodwill SWPA programs, but facing barriers preventing participation in their local workforce are also eligible for assistance through the Community Services department. Goodwill SWPA programming operated directly by the Community Services department include our local Opportunity Centers, Welcome Center and the Give Back Program.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Opportunity Center Coordinator oversees the daily operations of a Goodwill opportunity center in the agency’s assigned region and supervises the positions responsible for scheduling, service coordination, and delivery. This individual and their team are responsible for identifying community needs and ensuring the respective opportunity center locations provide a variety of services, including but not limited to: career services, education, and training programs. Through collaboration with Goodwill's Human Services division and community partners, the coordinator leads outreach efforts, fosters partnerships, and drives positive participant outcomes while adhering to organizational policies and best practices.
This role demands a dynamic leader with proven expertise in workforce development and a track record of driving strategic workforce development initiatives. The coordinator creates a culturally competent and collaborative workplace that values relationships with participants, staff, and agency partners. The position supports continuous improvement efforts and upholds Goodwill's mission to empower individuals through education and employment.
Status: Regular, Full-time, Exempt.
Location: South Side Opportunity Center - 2700 E Carson St, Pittsburgh, PA 15203, USA
External Hiring Range: $52,624 - $54,728.96 per annum.
Schedule: MWF 8 AM to 4 PM and T/TH 10 AM - 6 PM. Occasional evenings and weekends required.
Travel: Occasional travel within Goodwill SWPA territory may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations:
- Manage day-to-day activities, ensuring the smooth delivery of services, scheduling, and resource
- Provide onsite customer service and foster a welcoming environment for attendants of classes, meetings, and community events at the Opportunity Center.
- Configure the Center's physical space for efficiency and enhanced participant experience, integrating safety and energy-efficient solutions, as well as, incorporating sustainable practices like recycling and waste reduction.
- Ensure center operations and workflows align consistently with agency expectations regarding maintenance, service, and/or safety concerns.
Leadership:
- Oversee, direct, train and evaluate the work of team members; hiring for vacancies and addressing conflicts as needed.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, provide performance feedback, and facilitate professional development and training opportunities to enhance team competencies.
- Manage individual and team work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and support is available during center operation hours and building safety and security is maintained.
- Communicate knowledge and information effectively across the department and interdisciplinary teams to build capacity, increase collaboration, ensure effective information flow, and inform on the department's strategic efforts.
Site Coordination:
- Develop and manage the schedule for classes, workshops, and events to optimize resource utilization and meet participant needs.
- In collaboration with the Welcome Center, monitor referrals and service coordination across departments to ensure seamless integration of services.
- Collaborate with staff, other regional coordinators, and community partners to execute scheduled activities and communicate updates.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Identify, establish, and nurture partnerships with community organizations, volunteers, and Human Services teams to support participant needs and organizational goals.
- Work with stakeholders and partners to co-develop and implement initiatives that align with organizational and participant needs, ensuring seamless service delivery.
- Plan and execute events such as fairs, community outreach activities, and stakeholder meetings to promote services and facilitate engagement.
Relationship Managment:
- Strengthen ongoing relationships with stakeholders, ensuring mutual support, collaboration, and the development of referral networks.
- Regularly communicate with stakeholders through virtual, phone, and in-person meetings to provide up-to-date information on services, resources, and access methods.
- Collaborate with partners to connect participants to appropriate services and address any service inquiries or challenges, ensuring smooth operations and effective delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Years of Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivelant AND 7+ years of relevant experience. OR
- Associates Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Workforce Development, Non-profit Management, Organizational Leadership, or other related field AND 5+ years of relevant experience. OR
- Bachelors Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Workforce Development, Non-profit Management, Organizational Leadership, or other related field AND 3+ years of relevant experience.
Required:
- Experience in organizing services or events within impacted communities.
- Collaborating with community organizations and coordinating services across departments.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of human services delivery models, adult education, case management and community resources.
- Prior leadership and/or supervisory experience.
REQUIRED CLEARANCES, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license, active insurance policy, and reliable transportation for local travel.
- Candidates are expected to complete background checks assigned by Goodwill SWPA, including a National Criminal Background check, prior to their first day of employment.
- Candidates are expected to provide current, valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) prior to their first day of employment.
