We’re looking for an accomplished Senior Mechanical Engineer ready to take the next step into practice and people leadership. This is an opportunity for a proven technical and project leader to help grow our Dallas mechanical engineering practice, strengthen client relationships, expand our project portfolio, and develop the next generation of engineering talent.

You’ll balance technical leadership, project delivery, business development, client engagement, and team development while partnering with senior leadership across RS&H.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Team & Practice

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to mechanical engineers and designers
  • Establish priorities, workflows, and technical standards that support a high-performing team
  • Coach and develop technical talent, project managers, and emerging leaders
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, performance development, and succession planning
  • Help identify opportunities to expand the team’s technical capabilities and market reach
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and professional growth

Grow the Business & Client Relationships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Represent RS&H in client meetings, industry events, professional organizations, and business development activities
  • Identify and pursue opportunities aligned with RS&H’s strategic markets and capabilities
  • Partner with leadership and business development teams on pursuit strategies, proposals, interviews, and presentations
  • Help expand RS&H’s presence and network throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth market
  • Contribute to the long-term growth strategy for the Dallas mechanical engineering practice

Lead Complex Projects

  • Provide technical and project leadership on complex mechanical/MEP projects
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction
  • Apply advanced engineering concepts to solve complex project challenges
  • Guide the development of plans, specifications, calculations, and construction documents
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and other disciplines in an integrated design environment
  • Perform and oversee quality control reviews to ensure technical excellence
  • Support construction administration, including field observations, contractor coordination, and resolution of technical issues

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing
  • 10+ years of mechanical/MEP engineering experience with progressively increasing technical, project, and leadership responsibility; 12+ years of experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading mechanical engineering and/or multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong track record delivering complex building mechanical/MEP projects
  • Experience developing client relationships and contributing to business development
  • Experience mentoring, developing, and retaining engineering talent
  • Strong understanding of project financials, scope management, scheduling, and risk management
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable building codes and standards, including IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and applicable state/local requirements
  • Experience reviewing technical work for quality, accuracy, and compliance
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to balance technical, operational, client, and business priorities
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings, project needs, business development, and team leadership

Due to federal contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading a mechanical engineering practice, department, or significant team
  • Established client and industry relationships in the Dallas/Fort Worth market
  • Proven success growing a book of business or expanding an existing client portfolio
  • Experience in aviation, healthcare, federal, commercial, or other complex building markets
  • Experience developing and executing market growth strategies
  • NCEES certification and/or ability to obtain multi-state licensure
  • Active involvement in professional or industry associations
