The Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh invite applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Pittsburgh, in the Department of Neurology and the Pittsburgh Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (PIND). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to investigate a project involving toxicant-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and Parkinson’s disease models. The open position will focus mainly on rotenone and paraquat models of toxicity, and utilize multidisciplinary approaches, including: both animal and cell culture models, Immunohistochemistry, as well as biochemical and molecular assays.
Description of Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Candidate must hold a PhD and have a strong background in neuroscience, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry. Applicants with experience with rodent model systems and molecular biology techniques will be favored. The successful candidate is expected to publish scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and participate in the grant-writing process. As part of the postdoctoral experience, applicants will receive mentoring for developing research proposals and participation in career development activities will be strongly encouraged.
QUALIFICATIONS AND FACULTY EXPECTATIONS
Qualifications: Candidate must hold a PhD or MD in basic or clinical medicine
