Staff Accountant
We are looking for a detail-focused Staff Accountant to join a busy accounting team in Cincinnati, Ohio on a Contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-moving environment. The role requires strong Excel skills, sound judgment with financial data, and the ability to keep documentation organized and accurate.
Responsibilities:
• Reconcile bank activity on a routine basis, identify variances, and follow through on outstanding items to ensure accurate records.
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and maintain clear supporting schedules for review and audit readiness.
• Examine expense allocations for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established accounting guidelines.
• Contribute to grant-related accounting tasks, including tracking, documentation, and financial support activities as needed.
• Process daily accounting work within a cloud based accounting system and assist with maintaining complete and reliable financial information.
• Create, organize, and preserve accounting files and related documentation in both electronic and physical formats.
• Provide administrative support to the accounting function through scanning, filing, record retention, document uploads, and secure disposal of sensitive materials.
• Assist with journal entries, general ledger support, and other accounting or clerical projects assigned by the team.
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of experience in accounting support, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger activities.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform bank and account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including working with formulas, reconciliations, and large volumes of data.
• Exposure to grant accounting is helpful but not required.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Compensation
