Accountant

We are seeking an Accountant to support revenue and general ledger activities for a fast-paced, multi-entity organization. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting, analyze variances, resolve reconciliation items, and contribute to ongoing process improvements. This position is primarily remote but does require occasional time in the Birmingham, AL office. We're ideally seeking candidates who are local to the Birmingham area and able to accommodate this hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Execute revenue accounting activities for assigned business units in accordance with established deadlines and procedures
• Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders regarding monthly financial results and respond to questions as needed
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts to support accurate and complete financial reporting
• Analyze and summarize variances related to revenue and accounts receivable, developing strong subject matter expertise in these areas
• Prepare account reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner
• Respond to ad hoc reporting requests and deliver clear, actionable financial insights to stakeholders
• Review work prepared by team members to ensure proper support, accuracy, and adherence to accounting standards
• Participate in and support broader team and organizational initiatives
• Help identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities and assist with testing to confirm solutions meet business needs
• Ensure consistent compliance with internal controls and financial reporting requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Accounting, Economics, or Finance
• 2+ years of experience in accounting
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation processes.

Compensation

$65,000.00-$80,000.00 Yearly
