Assistant Controller

Compensation: $71.25 to $82.50 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to provide high-level accounting and financial planning support for a transport organization in Northern Cincinnati, Ohio. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can strengthen financial operations, improve reporting accuracy, and help maintain well-documented accounting practices. The role offers an opportunity to contribute across both senior accounting activities and forward-looking financial analysis in a dynamic business environment. ONSITE 5 DAYS A WEEK.


Responsibilities:

• Lead core accounting activities tied to the monthly close process, ensuring timelines are met and financial records remain accurate.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts by analyzing trends and delivering meaningful performance insights.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts while investigating variances and resolving discrepancies promptly.

• Prepare internal and external financial reports that support leadership decision-making and compliance requirements.

• Assist with audit readiness by organizing schedules, substantiating balances, and responding to requests during financial statement reviews.

• Develop and refine accounting documentation, including process narratives, controls, and procedural reference materials.

• Provide accounting support related to regulatory and contract compliance, including work connected to DCAA expectations when applicable.

• Contribute to operational finance initiatives involving existing AS400-based processes and related documentation updates as systems evolve.


Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in assistant controller, senior accounting, or comparable finance leadership support roles.
• Strong background in financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance review.
• Hands-on knowledge of month-end close procedures and general ledger management.
• Experience preparing financial reports and supporting financial statement audits.
• Familiarity with DCAA-related accounting or compliance standards.
• Ability to create clear process documentation and maintain organized accounting records.
• Proficiency working with accounting systems and adapting to structured process changes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced business setting.

Compensation

$71.25-$82.50 Hourly
